What to expect

Join us for a seated, professionally catered dinner that honors the service and sacrifice of our nation’s heroes. This year’s keynote speaker, Helen Comparatore, was a nurse at Ground Zero during 9/11 and brings an unforgettable, firsthand perspective. Past galas have featured decorated FDNY officers and local leaders sharing emotional, inspiring stories that remind us why this event matters. This is a night of tribute, community, and powerful storytelling.

Our live and silent auctions raise essential funds for first responder programs—offering everything from exclusive travel packages to custom gear and one-of-a-kind art. In previous years, attendees have bid on private guided tours of Ground Zero, a custom Royal Enfield motorcycle, and luxury vacation homes in Bali, Costa Rica, and Turks & Caicos. This year’s auction will once again be full of memorable, high-value items. All proceeds directly support Heroes Defense initiatives.

Throughout the night, you'll hear moving accounts from veterans, active-duty personnel, law enforcement, and first responders—stories that are rarely told but deeply needed. These stories are more than speeches—they're lived experiences that define resilience, courage, and duty. Hearing from those who’ve served on 9/11 or on the front lines here at home makes this banquet truly unforgettable.

We take time during the event to recognize extraordinary individuals and organizations with community hero awards. We also pause to remember those lost on September 11th and in the line of duty since, through a solemn and heartfelt tribute. This is one of the most emotional and grounding parts of the evening—reminding us that honor and gratitude are not just values, but actions.

Your ticket, your bid, your presence—it all creates real impact. Past events have funded AED placements, firehouse upgrades, Jaws of Life equipment, and vital training for underserved departments. Every dollar raised helps equip, educate, and support the first responders and veterans who protect our communities. Heroes Defense ensures your generosity goes straight to those who need it most.

GUEST SPEAKERS

Helen Comperatore

Helen Comeratore is the wife of fallen firefighter Corey Comperatore, who was tragically killed in the July 2023 shooting at the Trump Rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Corey died a hero—shielding his family from gunfire with his own body. Helen now carries his legacy forward with courage, grace, and strength. Her speaking at this year’s gala is a powerful reminder of the sacrifice, service, and resilience that define true heroism. She and her daughters are going to be in attendance, we are honored to introduce Helen's family to ours.

Tim Brown

A retired New York City firefighter and 9/11 first responder, Tim Brown survived the collapse of the Twin Towers—but lost nearly 100 friends that day. He’s since dedicated his life to honoring the fallen and fighting for the truth.
